Description:
This three-day executive programme is aimed at built environment professionals and heritech enthusiasts in the conservation sector who want to gain practical experience with 3D laser scanning and associate software. It is suitable for those with no prior experience.
The course will cover the following:
● A brief theoretical understanding of LiDAR technology
● Understanding of different types of 3D-LiDAR technologies and their appropriate uses
● The advantages and disadvantages of various scanning equipment
● Hands-on experiences with FARO Freestyle2 handheld 3D scanner and FARO S350+ 3D scanner within a conserved historic building (ArClab)
● Understanding the software required to process and clean up the data collected from 3D laser scanning
The practical session of the course will be delivered at NUS and the newly established Architectural Conservation Laboratory (ArClab). ArClab is a conserved historic shophouse now serving as a living laboratory under the Department of Architecture, NUS. It focuses on holistic research and training related to building survey processes, in-depth analysis, and critical assessment of building materials and systems to advance in digital conservation technology, material sciences, and building aesthetics.
Participants will be advised to carry their laptops and wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear.
